The dimensions of a typical washing machine or dryer are approximately: length 27 inches (68.6 cm), width 28-34 inches (71.1-86.3 cm), and height 35-43 inches (88.9-109.2 cm);
Approximate dimensions of a washing machine or dryer with a base: length 27 inches (68.6 cm), width 28-34 inches (71.1-86.3 cm), height 47-55 inches (88.9-109.2 cm);
1. Measure length, width and height
Although the size of the washing machine and the dryer are the same, there is no standard size either. This is why we need to carefully measure the length, width and height of the space where the two machines are placed.
2. Determine the style and placement
There are generally two modes for the placement of washing machines and dryers, side by side or up and down. When placing them side by side, if the washer and dryer are front-mounted, you can add a base to them to reduce the discomfort when you bend over and take the clothes. If the space is limited and you choose to place it up and down, you must put the washing machine below and the dryer on top when stacking. Stackable front-mounted washing machines and dryers are a better choice. No matter which one you choose, you must determine the style and placement of the washing machine and dryer.
3. Make room around the washing machine and dryer
In order for the functions of the washing machine and dryer to operate normally, a certain amount of space must be left around. Approximately 4 feet (1.2 meters) needs to be left in front for easy loading and unloading. Approximately 6 inches (15.2 cm) of space should be left behind for hoses and ventilation. Leave 1 inch (2.5 cm) of space on each side to reduce noise. For top-mounted washing machines, additional space needs to be added above to facilitate opening and closing the door of the washing machine.
